Photography is all about the quality of the light
Its not just landscape photographers who have to get up at the crack of dawn to get the image. In my experience as a product photographer I also like to see some early mornings when the light is at its best.
The brief for this shoot of some holiday yurts in Derbyshire was to capture not only the beauty and comfort of the yurts themselves but to also capture the essence of the stunning Derbyshire location they are set in. Derbyshire is a wonderful county to visit for those who enjoy the outdoors with many hiking, walking, running and cycling opportunities. The images from the shoot needed to appeal to potential visitors who love the outdoor life.
In my opinion, a yurt from the outside is not the most attractive of structures, so to try and capture the magic of this accommodation it was key to show the setting of these yurts with a beautiful late summer morning sunrise. The weather forecast had been unpredictable but did show there might be a small chance of a good sunrise on one of the days and my 5am start paid dividends. By being on site early I did manage to capture some great images in a small window of about 40 minuets before the clouds came. Overall this was a successful shoot, one which the client was pleased with and a range of the images now feature on their website.
