Derbyshire's chance to shine.....
The iconic Chatsworth House, the jewel in Derbyshire's crown, plays host to its first RHS Flower Show this year. The show will be held in the parkland, occupying both sides of the river, with the house as the backdrop.
The Chatsworth House gardens are not new comers to RHS Flower Shows. Designer Dan Pearson took a little piece of Chatsworth to the 2015 Chelsea Flower show and won a coveted Gold Medal and 'Best in Show'. Now its time for the Chelsea buzz to come to Chatsworth.
I normally have to travel all around the country to attend the RHS Shows but for this one I am in the privileged position of a quick commute from my home in Ashbourne.
I have already had a sneak preview of the show during the build up week and some of the gardens and trade stands are really taking shape nicely.
My next visit will an early morning start on press day, when I hope to be blessed with excellent weather and stunning gardens to photograph.
I hope the show is a great success and is testament to its stunning setting. If the show proves popular I can see it competing with the likes of Hampton Court and Chelsea as a must visit show for the enthusiastic gardener.
I will be uploading more images from the show and my highlights of recommended must see exhibits for people planning to visit.
The show is open to RHS members from Wednesday 7th June 10am to 6.30pm. The show is then open to the general public from Thursday 8th June to Saturday 10th (10am - 6.30pm) and Sunday 11th June 10am - 5pm.
